About the icon:
 
This miraculous icon of the Theotokos dates back to the 14th century. It was located in the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi until 1730, when the following great miracle occurred. By the grace of God and the will of Our Most Holy Theotokos, the icon disappeared from the catholicon of the Vatopedi Monastery and was found in the catholicon of our Monastery, while both temples were locked. The Vatopedi fathers searched everywhere for the icon and when they were informed that it was located in the Monastery of Xenophon, they came and asked for its return, because they had not yet realized the miracle and everyone believed that this transfer was done by human intervention.
However, that same evening, while both churches were locked, the icon was found again in the catholicon of the Holy Monastery of Xenophon and everyone understood that this was the will of the Virgin Mary. Since then, this icon has been in our Monastery and works many miracles for cancer patients and women who are unable to have children. Her memory is celebrated on the first Sunday of October (old calendar).
